Tami R. Opie age 53 of Monroe, died Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg following a short battle with cancer. Tami was born on November 22, 1961 and was raised by her grandparents, Fred and Orral Goecks of Monroe. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1980 and married Jeffrey Opie on June 18, 1988 at St. John's United Church of Christ. Tami worked as a Loan Teller at the Commercial and Savings Bank for 11 years, as a bookkeeper for Peters and Peters C.P.A., and along with her husband owned New Glarus Motors for almost 20 years. Tami had a knack for doing all types of crafts, making and sharing rhubarb pies, and enjoyed visiting with her neighbors. She also played Mrs. Claus and organized the Christmas Parade on the Square for several years. Tami also enjoyed giving presentations to local schools on the history of Cheese Days.

She is survived by her husband, Jeff Opie of Monroe; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Gloria Opie of Gratiot; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Duecker (Dave Webster) of Monroe, and Tammy (Kim) Piefer of Warren, IL; and brothers-in-law, Daryl (Susie) Opie of Necedah, WI and Jason (Sarah) Opie of Pittsville, WI. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Fred and Orral Goecks; and a brother-in-law, Gregory Opie.

Tami's wishes were to have no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Memorials are suggested to the Green County Humane Society or Agrace HospiceCare in Tami's name. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
