Steve Borhart, age 54, of rural Monroe, died on Monday, October 26, 2009 at University Hospital in Madison. He was born on January 22, 1955 in Huntley, Illinois, the son of Harold F. and Pearl (Allen) Borhart. He was a 1973 graduate of Huntley High School. Steve loved farming his entire life. In high school he was active in FFA and involved with 4-H throughout his life. He was a member of the National Holstein Association, showing cattle in Illinois and Wisconsin. Steve farmed in the Monroe area for 20 years. Another passion of Steve's was restoring and driving antique tractors.
Surviving is his daughter, Shannon Borhart; his mother, Pearl Borhart; sisters and brother, Jean (Richard) Byers, Susan (David) Shanks, Larry Borhart, Linda (David) Moore, Judy (Terry) Peterson, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2009 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Haworth officiating. Burial will be in Bethel-Hawthorne Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established in Steve's memory.
