Shirley A. Keegan, age 88, of Monroe, died on Monday, November 3, 2014 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on February 11, 1926 in Clarno Township the daughter of Gayle and Lena (Tuescher) Matzke and was a 1943 graduate of Monroe High School.

Shirley married Leo Keegan on February 2, 1949 at St. Victor's Rectory. Leo passed away on September 3, 1971. They had two children, Susan and Gaylen. Gaylen passed away on May 3, 1972.

Shirley worked at St. Clare Hospital in Camp Grant IL; and for the United Telephone Company; Shirley and her husband owned and operated the Ludlow Bar.

Shirley was an avid bowler, enjoyed golf, puzzles, playing pool, an avid Packer fan, and loved spending time with her family and friends.

She was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue (James) Dahmen and their children: Cory (Marcia) Dahmen, Ryan (Lindsay) Dahmen, and Andrea (Greg) Garvens; great-grandaughters: Kennedy Dahmen, Alivia Garvens, great-grandsons: Drake Dahmen, Luke Dahmen and Keegan Dahmen; nephew, Dennis Matzke, niece, Bethany Matzke Fahr and a dear friend for many years, Caryl Gempler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, in 1971; son, Gaylen, in 1972; parents, Gayle Matzke, in 1981; Lena Matzke, in 1985; and a brother, Harold Matzke in 1995.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Dr., and 18th Ave., with pastor Randy Booth officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
