Sherman A. Stelter, age 78 of Woodford, WI, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, WI. He was born November 13, 1930 in Woodford, WI, to Gustave and Esther (Anderson) Stelter. Sherman and his mother lived in the Woodford area all of his life. Following his graduation from eighth grade, Sherman operated the Woodford City Service Station where he remained until his retirement.
Sherman is survived by one brother, LaVerne (Ruth) Stelter of Silver Springs, MD; a lifelong friend, Richard Schliem of Woodford; and his faithful companion, "Spot." Sherman's final words expressed concern for the continued care of "Spot." He enjoyed fishing with his friend, Ernie Wyssbrod, on the Pecatonica River north of his home in Woodford.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gustave in 1958; his mother, Esther in 2000; and his sister, Norma as a young girl. Sherman was a member of Wiota Lutheran Church.
