Sheldon A Knight Jr., age 91, passed away January 6, 2010 at the Monroe Manor at Monroe, WI. He was the son of Sheldon Knight Sr. and Nina (Farrant) Knight of Rockford, IL. He attended Rockford Schools, NISTC and Rockford College. He served in North Africa and Italy while he was in the Army from 1940-1945. He also was in Officers Reserve for 19 years.
Sheldon was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Rockford, IL. He was active with the Boy Scouts, and was a member and treasure of Pecatonica Rotary where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, Donald Tarbert # 8416 Pecatonica VFW member, and he retired from Warner Lambert in 1983, where he was an accountant.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years; Louise M. Knight, his daughter; Beppi (Chris) Byl of Darlington, WI., grandson; Christopher (April) Byl of Johnson Creek, WI., granddaughter; Lisa (Brandon) Haesler of Darlington, WI., and great grandchildren; Tabetha and Rowan Byl, and Quintessa and Danick Haesler, sister; Shirley (Paul) Smith of Rockford, IL., brother; Eugene (Marilyn) Knight of Rockford, IL., brother-in-law; Russell (Delores) Joslin of Naperville, IL., sister in laws; Rosmary Hoye of Oswego, IL., Carol Culver of South Beloit, WI., Anna Worthel of Durand, IL., Irene (Don) Rutten of Joliet, IL., brother-in-law; Tom (Esther) Joslin of Naperville, IL., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents, one brother; Robert (Doris) Knight, brother-in-laws; Jack Hoye, George Culver, and Wayne Worthel.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am, January 9, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Pecatonica with Rev. Scott Williquette , Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Rockford officiating.
Visitation from 9:00 am until service time at the church. Burial at Willwood Burial Park of Rockford.
