DARLINGTON - The second of two men involved in a "little scuffle" at a Wiota bar in August has now also been charged in Lafayette County Circuit Court with disorderly conduct related to the incident.
Virgil Leroy Kingery, Jr., 34, Gratiot, was charged Nov. 21 with a Class B misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct for the Aug. 16 incident at the Crossroads Bar and Grill.
The other man, Ronald F. Ray, 46, Darlington, was charged earlier this fall with battery and disorderly conduct related to the same incident and has since pleaded not guilty. His next court date is Jan. 22. Kingery has an adjourned initial appearance Dec. 16.
The dispute between the men goes back to August 2012, when Kingery bet Ray he could not bring a sheep into the Crossroads.
Ray won the bet when he "went outside, retrieved a sheep and brought it into the bar," police reported.
A year later, the men were at the same bar and taunting each other about the bet when their dispute turned into a "little scuffle," Ray told police. He said Kingery was still sore about losing the bet and hadn't paid up.
