YORK TOWNSHIP - A shed fire in rural Blanchardville killed several pigs and caused an estimated $100,000 in damages Wednesday morning, April 3.
Firefighters from Argyle and Blanchardville responded at about 8:30 a.m. to a property belonging to Dennis and Tammy Gilson, W8630 County H.
The shed was totally destroyed but did not spread or injure anyone besides about four or five pigs, according to Blanchardville Fire Chief Steve Zimmerman. Also destroyed in the shed were a four-wheeler, tractor and manure spreader.
Zimmerman puts damages at a rough estimate of $100,000. A heat lamp is the probable source of the fire, he said.
New Glarus Area EMS was also called to the scene as a safety measure.
