Selma R. Elmer, age 91, of Monroe, died on Monday, January 28, 2008 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on January 5, 1917 in Jordan Township, Green County, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Rose (Blumer) Blum. Selma and Weston Elmer were married on November 6, 1935. Selma and her husband farmed all of their lives in the Clarno, Jordan and Adams Townships. She moved to her home in Monroe in 1998.
Surviving are her children: Dwight (Donna) Elmer of Monticello, Duane Elmer of Monroe, Diana Prien of Monroe; grandchildren: Janis (David) King of Albany, Carolyn (Randy) Williams of Brodhead, Keith (Laurie) Prien of Monroe, Alan (Angel) Prien of Monroe, Dawn Elmer of Monticello, Stuart Elmer of Verona and Valerie Elmer of Madison; great-grandchildren, Adam, Aaron, and Arik King, Tara Williams, Paige, Nicole, Riley, Michelle and Weston Prien. She is predeceased by her parents; husband; a son, Daniel; a son-in-law, Gordon Prien; 5 brothers, Louis, Melvin, Raymond, Elmon and Ivan Blum; and 5 sisters, Wilma Kubly, Mayme Kubly, Lillian Grimm, Ada Perington and Verna Liddicoat.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, Monroe. Officiating will be the Rev. David Busker of Monroe United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund is being established in Selma's memory.
