Sandra "Sam" Wilson, 66, died on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at her home in Warrenton, Virginia. She was born Sandra Kaye Franklin in Stoughton, Wisconsin on May 19, 1943, to Arleen (Bovre) and Clarence Franklin. She graduated with honors from Monroe High School in 1961 and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1965.

She worked for the United Services Organization Europe from 1966 to 1969 and for Dow Corning Corporation in Elizabethtown, Kentucky from 1970 to 1972. A devoted wife and mother, she served on the Army Wives' Advisory Group and taught Effective Writing and Basic Learning Skills Courses to young officers and soldiers. She held numerous leadership positions, mentoring and caring for hundreds of Army families.

In 1996, she began a 13-year career with Everfast Corporation as a sales associate for Calico Corners. She was the manager of the Fairfax, Falls Church, Annandale, Arlington, Old Town, Chevy Chase and Great Falls stores. Most recently, she was a corporate trainer, developing curriculum and teaching courses for sales associates across the country.

She is survived by her husband, BG (Ret.) James L. Wilson; two beloved sons, Major James Tyler Wilson of Fort Bliss, Texas and Troy Matthew Wilson of Severna Park, Maryland; three grandchildren, Emma Lynn Bryan-Wilson, Benjamin Rowdy Wilson, Aspen Brielle Wilson; and her brother, Daniel Robert Franklin of Aurora, Colorado.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 17, 2009, at Our Saviour Lutheran, 6194 Dumfries Road, Warrenton, Virginia at 11 a.m. (viewing) and noon (memorial) followed by a reception at Fauquier Springs Country Club. Interment will be Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery.
