Ruth V. Ott, age 79 of Monroe, died on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at the Monroe Manor Nursing Home. She was born on January 29, 1930 in Argyle, the daughter of Charles and Clara (Ihus) Erickson. Ruth and Roy G. Ott were married on October 8, 1947 at St. John's United Church of Christ. Ruth farmed with her husband in the Monroe area for 33 years, before moving to Monroe. She also worked at Lanz Hardware, The Tot Shop and Gambles. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. Ruth was an avid card player, often playing at the Senior Center in Monroe.
Surviving are her children, Larry (Luann) Ott of Monroe, Marlene (Bill) Zander of Cross Plains, Keith (Barbara) Ott of Juda; grandchildren, Aimee (Dusty Williams) Aebly, Bryan (Wendy Mueller) Ott, Kelly Ott, Corey (Todd) Cleary, Jerin (Chi) Zander, Robin (Mikel) Buckarma; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Rose Erickson of Janesville. Ruth was predeceased by her parents; husband, Roy; and brothers, Clifford and LaVerne.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2009 at St. John's United Church of Christ. Officiating will be Rev. William T. Mike Heath, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Ruth's memory.
