DARLINGTON - Ruth E. Armstrong, age 88 of Darlington, WI, died on Friday, February 29, 2008 at Lafayette County Manor. She was born on August 9, 1919 in Rewey, WI to Earl & Stella (Davis) Cushman. She married Harland L. Armstrong on July 11, 1938 in Dubuque, Iowa. They farmed for 49 years in Willow Springs Township, WI. Harland died on April 29, 1987.

Ruth enjoyed her antiques and was known for her re-finishing of antiques. She also was a dog breeder and bred Boston Terriers, Poodles, and Schnauzers. For 33 years, she served as treasurer for Willow Springs Township. For 15 years, she worked at Memorial Hospital. She was a long time member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and of its Council of Catholic Women and helped at funeral dinners and meals on wheels. She loved cooking, baking, canning, and making fruit cakes. She loved sharing all of it with others. Ruth's Catholic faith and her family were among her favorite treasures.

Ruth is survived by her beloved daughter: Barbara (Val) Feiner of Freeport, Illinois; her grandchildren of whom she was very proud: Valerie Lynn (Richard) Hauser Jr., Lawrence (Jodi) Feiner, both of Freeport, Illinois, Kristine A. (Joel) Sanders of Valparaiso, Indiana; 11 great-grandchildren: Richard, Matthew, Steven, Robyn, & Leah Hauser; and Cole & Corinne Feiner, all of Freeport, Illinois; and Alicia & Alex White; and Claire & Clayton Sanders of Valparaiso, Indiana; 2 sisters-in-law: Vera Armstrong and Gladys Taylor, both of Darlington; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and very dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 brothers: Victor and Robert Cushman; 2 sisters: Lucille Steffen and Joyce Cass; and 2 nephews: Donald and Robert Cushman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington, WI, with Fr. Randy Budnar officiating. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday, March 3, 2008 at STEIL CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 206 E. Harriet Street, Darlington, WI, where a Rosary Service will prayed at 3:00 pm. Ruth's love will live in our hearts forever.
