MONROE — Fallen tree limbs across powerlines left 975 Monroe Alliant Energy customers without power for an hour on Saturday, August 21.
Monroe Police Officers alongside Alliant Energy, responded to the 1900 block of 12th Street when a rotten tree fell onto several powerlines at about 7:49 a.m., causing an immediate outage.
Limbs also landed on a parked car within the vicinity resulting in minor damages. One street block was closed during the repairs and restoration of power. No one was injured from this event.
Alliant sent out an email about 20 minutes after power went out to customers in the area, informing of the blackout and that power was estimated to be restored by 10 a.m. that morning. When power was restored shortly before 9 a.m., Alliant again sent another email.
