Roger T. Sullivan age 86, of Monroe, died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Roger was born on August 2, 1928 in Rockford, IL, the son of Thomas Clarence Sullivan and Bertha (Miller) Sullivan Wyss. He attended Meadow Brook Country School near Argyle and married Maryellen Prien on August 15, 1948 at the Monroe E.U.B. Church. Roger was a lifelong farmer and purchased the home farm on Balls Mill Road in 1957. He was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, a Past Governor and 50-year member of the Monroe Moose Lodge #754, and a board member of Green County Mutual Insurance for 21 years. He and his wife loved to travel and over the years visited 6 continents, 42 countries, and all of the United States. Roger enjoyed slowpitch, bowling, playing cards, big game hunting, his annual fishing trips to Canada, and spending holidays with the family, especially the grand and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Maryellen Sullivan of Monroe; a daughter, Kathleen (Steve) Chenous of Argyle; a son, Thomas (Janice) Sullivan of Juda; four grandchildren, Kelly (Nate) Frisch of Mt. Horeb, Jamie (Andrew) Pingry of Madison, Derek (Ashley) Sullivan of Monroe, and Andy (Johanna) Chenous of Argyle; eight great-grandchildren, Molly, Jacob, Rianna, Katie, Tenley, Brogen, Elena, and Owen; and a sister, Beverly (Willis) Marty and their children, Jeff and Steve Marty, all of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Bradley Chenous; and a sister, Darlene Sullivan.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at 1:30 p.m., at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Reverend Randy Booth officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge. Vistiation will be at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Moose Memorial Service at 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Roger's name.
