Roger J. Gille, age 70, of Monroe, died on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born on June 18, 1947 in Monroe, the son of Leo "Bud" and Hilda (Schlafli) Gille, Jr. Roger graduated from Monroe High School and Rockford Barber College. Roger and Gail Foesch were united in marriage on October 14, 1967 in Monroe.
Roger was a barber at Barber's II in Monroe, serving the community for 50 years. He loved making his customers look their best while lending an ear or sharing a tale of his own.
He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe.
He enjoyed many sports including basketball, baseball, and softball. He was an avid Harley rider and spent many weekends and vacations driving miles and miles with his wife, Gail and the rest of their "Gang." Family was of the utmost importance to Roger. He was always excited to spend time with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Gail; mother, Hilda Gille; son, Travis (Jenifer) Gille; daughter, Carrie (Tim) Kundert; brother, Wayne Gille; sisters, Linda (Bob) Flanagan, Tammie (John) Wartenweiler; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo "Bud" Gille, Jr.
Memorial Mass will be 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Father Randy Budnar as celebrant. Burial will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
