Roger A. Hanson, Sr., age 73 of Monroe, WI, formerly of Argyle, WI, passed away at his home in Monroe surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 30, 2009. He was born June 28, 1936 in Wiota Township in Lafayette County, Wisconsin, the son of Jesse and Alma (Olson) Hanson. Roger lived in Argyle before moving to Browntown, WI, where he worked as a supervisor at the Iroquois Foundry for 15 years. In 1987, he moved to Monroe where he worked at S K Plastics as a machine operator and as a custodian at Monroe Clinic until his retirement.

He is survived by five children: Roger Hanson, Jr. of Milwaukee, WI, Deb (Larry) Amacher of Monroe, Rhonda (Rod) LaBarge of Platteville, WI, Jackie (Ken) Wilkens and Donnie Hanson, both of Monroe; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother: Freeman (Irene) Hanson of Monroe; and one sister: Sonja Olson of Monticello, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Stanley, Francis, Olgar, Jesse, Jr. and Richard Hanson; and one sister: Hazel Hanson.

Roger served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1961. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing Euchre, rolling dice, and car rides through the countryside.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Erickson Funeral Home, 60 Breeze Terrace, Argyle, WI with Rev. Daniel L. Bohlman of Apple Grove Lutheran Church in Argyle officiating. Military rites will be accorded by Argyle American Legion Post #251. A visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of services Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Erickson Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
