Robert Schneider, 75, of Fort Atkinson, passed away January 24th, 2014 at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital. Robert was the second child born to Ernest and Mary (Fuchs) Schneider in Dakota, IL. He was joined by two brothers, Donald and Ernie.

He married Sonjia Sorenson on October 12th, 1957. Together they eventually moved to Fort Atkinson where they raised their family of four daughters Debra Mueller of Fort Atkinson, Barbara Bublitz of Wisconsin Dells, Paula (Thomas) Bergman of Fort Atkinson and Shari (Karl) Patzer of Madison and one son Donald (Junyue Li) Schneider of Brookfield.

He was employed at AVP Crepaco for more than 40 years where he finished his career as a customer service manager. He also served in the military as a Marine Reservist for 17 years, reaching the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and participating as a member of the Marine Honor Guard.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Mary, and brother Ernie. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Sonjia and his five children. In addition to his children and brother, he leaves behind his grandchildren, Jeremiah and Jessica Bublitz and Kristine and Emily Patzer; half and stepbrothers and sisters, Jim (Heather) Schneider of Durand, IL, Ken Schneider of Rockford, IL, Mike (Teresa) Schneider of Winnebago, IL, Jeanne (Lowell) Dickman of Freeport, IL, David Schneider of Bradley, IL and Steve (Donna) Jungen and Tom (Beth) Jungen both of Freeport, IL.

Robert was of strong character and was a natural born leader whether it be directing Marines or mentoring boys as a Scoutmaster. He was a dedicated family man who enjoyed vacationing with his wife and grandkids as well as participating in the many family gatherings that took place throughout the years. He made friends easily and his warm smile will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services will be held at noon on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church,

314 Barrie St., Fort Atkinson with Pastor Bryan Engfer officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church until time of service.

Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park in Janesville.
