Robert Lee Bandi (Bob), 70, of Machesney Park, passed away on March 24, 2017 in his home. He was born on March 4, 1947 in Monroe, Wisconsin, the son of Fred Albert and Frieda Marie (Klossner) Bandi. He graduated from Durand High School in 1965. Bob served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1969 and then served and retired as a Major from the United States Army Reserve. Robert married Karen Olson on November 10, 1973 at Alpine Lutheran Church, Rockford. She predeceased him on May 2, 2016. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was involved in WOW and was an usher. Robert was a member of the German Society; past President of Rockford Chapter of the National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE); American Legion Post 1207; Swiss Club (Turner Hall), Monroe, Wisconsin; and Moose Lodge 754, Monroe, Wisconsin. Robert was employed as a civilian and retired from the U.S. Army Reserve Center, Rockford, Illinois. Robert cherished time spent with family and friends. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include his son, Alexander Bandi; sisters, Ethel Ahrendt and Rose Kelly; honorary brother, Patrick Kelly; brother and sister-in-law, Arden and Donna Stenglein; nephew, Stefan Ahrendt; and aunt, Shirley Streit; and many cousins. Predeceased by his wife, Karen and his parents.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2017 in Zion Lutheran Church, 925 5th Ave., Rockford, with Rev. Dr. Michael Thomas officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 am in the church. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. in Washington Reformation UCC Cemetery, Monticello, WI.
