BRODHEAD - Robert J. Ladwig, age 96, of Brodhead, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Wood's Crossing Nursing Home, Brodhead. He was born on April 11, 1915 in Juda, WI, the son of August and Minnie (Eiffert) Ladwig. He married Irene L. Lentz on December 3, 1937 at the EUB -parsonage, Juda. She passed away on August 19, 1988.

Bob lived in the Brodhead/Juda area all of his life and graduated from Juda High School in 1933. He and his wife farmed near Juda and Sylvester Township. They also managed the Brodhead Pickle Factory, developed 'pickle corn' and managed a pickle factory in Kingsley, IA. Bob worked for Knight Mfg., Brodhead, for 15 years before his retirement and was a former Green County Deputy Sheriff.

He is survived by a niece, Joan Krenzin, Bowling Green, KY, and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, six brothers, one sister, and three nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at the D.L. Newcomer Funeral Home, Brodhead, with Cal Schaver officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead.
