Robert D. Babler age 81 of Monroe, died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at his home. Bob was born July 15, 1932 in Madison, the son of Clifford and Marie (Steinmann) Babler. He attended Monroe High School. Robert and Joann M. Dickinson were married on March 5, 1954 in Janesville. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1961 until 1962 during the Berlin Crisis. Bob worked as a foreman at Industrial Combustion for 29 years before retiring in 1992 and was also self-employed as a painter for many years. He is survived by his wife, Joann Babler of Monroe; five children, Michael R. (Janice) Babler of Milwaukee, Patricia (Tim) Soddy of Monroe, David (Gwen) Babler of Durand, IL, Christine (Chris) Ochilla of McFarland, and Melissa (Jason Kennedy) Babler of Milwaukee; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gary Babler of Whitefish Bay, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Eugene, Jim, and Charles Babler.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Pastor Pat Soddy and Pastor Dave Pluss officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
