"Bruce" was born in Carrington, North Dakota. After graduating from high school, he attended business school. After graduation Bruce enlisted in the Army Air Corps where he served as a hospital administrator. Following his military service, Bruce worked for the J.C. Penney company for 37 years until his retirement as manager of the Monroe store in 1977. Bruce was a longstanding member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge, and Zor Shrine. Bruce was a lover of life and God's great creation. He spent many a day doing yard work, playing golf, shuffle board and pool when he was physically capable of enjoying those activities. He derived great joy from working with his hands and had a gift for repairing almost anything. His most precious time was spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren visiting at the lake home of his daughter Cheri. He was always there to provide guidance and loving kindness. Bruce was a gentle and loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend and will be greatly missed. With Kay's constant loving care, he battled an illness that left him partially paralyzed and in declining health for many years. Throughout his long years of disability, Bruce continued to maintain a positive spirit which was a testament to his strong faith and deep love of family. Bruce died peacefully January 9, 2009, at the age of 91 in the Season of Life Hospice House in Woodruff, WI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seasons of Life Hospice in Woodruff, WI or the Salvation Army.
