Robert "Bob" M. Stauffer

Robert "Bob" M. Stauffer, age 83 of Monroe, died on Monday, December 29, 2008 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born on June 26, 1925 in Monticello, the son of Jacob and Johanna (Ingold) Stauffer. He was a 1943 graduate of Monticello High School. Bob and Helen Klassy were married on October 22, 1950. Bob and Helen farmed on the Klassy farm in Clarno Township from 1950 to 1978. He then was a field representative for the American Dairy Association; Bob also worked as a field representative for Tri-State Milk Co-Op until his retirement in 1994. He drove school bus for the Monroe School District for 23 years.

Bob was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, serving on the council helping in any way he could. He was a past president of the Green County Farm Bureau and of Monroe Rotary Club, where he received the Paul Harris Fellow Award. Bob was a second ward alderman for 6 years.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; son, Ron (Michelle) Stauffer of Monroe; sisters, Kathrine (Ed) Becker of Monroe, Marion (William) Borchart of Menasha; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, John.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ. Officiating will be St. John's Clergy, with family burial in the Highland Cemetery in Monticello. A visitation will be held on Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe. A memorial fund is being established in Bob's memory.
