Riley V. Whitehead

ALBANY - Riley V. Whitehead, age 19, of Albany passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, in Madison. He was born on June 3, 1991 in Rockford, IL, the son of Russell and Leigh (Atkinson) Whitehead.

Riley graduated from Albany High School in 2009 and was currently a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying political science. He also was a member of the UW-ROTC. Riley was a member of the Albany Methodist Church, he enjoyed acting and theater, and was a member of the Monroe Theater Guild. In high school, he was a member of the Albany Show Choir, the band and also enjoyed forensics and was awarded a gold medal four years in a row. Riley loved traveling the world.

He is survived by his parents, Russell and Leigh Whitehead, Albany, a brother, Reese Whitehead, Albany, maternal grandmother, Lenore Atkinson, Florida, paternal grandmother, Mary Ann Whitehead, Janesville, his girlfriend, Abby Huebner, Janesville, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers and a cousin, Christopher Whitehead.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2011, at the Albany Lions Club, with Pastor Pat Soddy officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m., Saturday, until time of services at the Lions Club. Military Honors will follow the service. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family is requesting contributions be made to the Albany Methodist Church. A tree will be planted at the church in memory of Riley.
