Richard W. Goodrich, age 73 of Monroe, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at his home. Richard was born February 20, 1935 in Monroe, the son of William P. and Marie (Thomm) Goodrich. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1953 and entered the U.S. Army on April 24, 1956. He honorably served two years and was discharged on April 14, 1958 at Fort Sheridan, IL. Richard owned Magdal's Jewelry Store in Monroe for 35 years. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe. Richard enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting and all of his pets.

He is survived by two daughters, Tracey Bushaw and fiancé Zbyszek Walczak, both of Janesville, and Peggy (Gail) Stark of O'Fallon, IL; two granddaughters, Mattie Stark and Tess Bushaw; and a sister, Claire Bierman of Ephram, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Green County Humane Society, HospiceCare Inc, 3001 W. Memorial Drive, Janesville, WI 53548 or Caring Hearts of Monroe. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
