Richard N. Coffey, 86, longtime resident of Freeport, passed away, Sunday, November 15, 2015, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe, Wisconsin. Richard was born on July 9, 1929 in Garden Grove, Iowa, the son of Carl and Mary (Hoffman) Coffey. Richard married M. Jean Mackey August 6, 1950 in Iowa City, Iowa. Jean passed away on May 26, 2004.

Richard worked as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Freeport Memorial Hospital for more than 30 years. Richard served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a former member of 1st Presbyterian Church of Winnebago and member of the Union Presbyterian Church in Monroe Wisconsin. Richard was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed dogs, fishing, and following the stock market. Richard was a strong Democrat.

Richard is survived by his four children: Laurence (Vicki) Coffey of Monroe, Wisconsin, Marcia Coffey of Bethel, Alaska, Joyce (James) Hartwig of Monroe Wisconsin, and Vivian Coffey of Freeport; one brother Darrel Coffey of Eau Claire Wisconsin; five grandchildren: Susan, Julie, Krissy, Cassie, and Shelby; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother, Kenneth and sister, Betty.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday November 21, 2015 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport with Rev. Jessie Larson officiating. There will be a visitation from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
