Richard J. "Dick" Christen

Richard J. "Dick" Christen, age 67 of Monroe, died on Sunday, September 19, 2010 as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born on January 14, 1943, the son of John and Irma (Herbert) Christen, Jr. He was a 1961 graduate of Monroe High School. He owned and operated Lena Machine and Welding from 1981 to 1999. Dick currently was working for Monroe Truck Inc. He was formerly a member of the Lena Masonic Lodge, F&AM, and in earlier years, Dick was active with the Boy Scouts of America. Dick cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed sports, especially the Packers and Brewers, but his trips to the Boat in Dubuque and to HoChunk were his favorite past times.

He is survived by his children, Dennis (Catherine) Christen of Polo, IL, Denise (Dwight) Balbach of Lena, IL, David Christen of Lena, IL, Duane Christen of Alaska, Debra (Michael) Mammoser of Stockton IL, Deanna Christen of Harvard, IL, Darla (Taryon) Cornwell of Lena IL; grandchildren, Joshua (Lori) Christen, Jordan Christen, Krystyn Haenitsch, Elizabeth Rada, Danielle Balbach, Danica Balbach, Garrett Balbach, Caleb Mammoser, Madalyn Mammoser, Sondra Winters, Nakoah Cornwell, Nikolai Cornwell; father, John Christen, Jr.; brothers, Donald (Sandy) Christen of Freeport, IL, Keith (Sylvia) Christen of Edgerton, Kim (Dianne) Christen of Blanchardville; former wife, Donna; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his grandparents; mother, Irma and special friend, Carol Wenger.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the East Clarno Methodist Church, with Rev. David Busker officiating. Burial will be in the East Clarno Methodist Cemetery in Clarno Township, Green County. A visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, Monroe, WI. A memorial fund is being established in Dick's memory.
