BELLEVILLE/NEW GLARUS - Regina A. Statz, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Heartsong Assisted Living in Belleville. She was born on December 14, 1938 at home near Ashton, WI the daughter of Norbert and Caroline (Kalscheuer) Laufenberg. Regina attended elementary school at St. Peters in Ashton and graduated from Waunakee High School. On May 3, 1960 she was united in marriage to Felix W. Statz at St. Peters Catholic Church in Ashton. Regina worked alongside her husband on the family farm; she was the true farm wife. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, bowling, gardening, camping, and the neighborhood card club. Regina was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Catholic Women's Club. She was also a member of the homemaker's club and served as a leader for the Dayton 4-H.

Regina is survived by her daughters Jeanne (Jim) Gempeler of Monticello, WI, Nita (Todd) Duerst of New Glarus, WI, and Lisa (Jim) Hahn of Hartford, WI, grandchildren Dacy, Todd Jr., Dane, and Devi Duerst and Jada and Jordy Hahn. She is further survived by her brother Jack (Gerry) Laufenberg of Waunakee, WI, a sister Matilda (Paul) Flansburgh of Prairie Du Chien, WI, brothers-in-law Pat (Joann) Statz of Waunakee, WI, Roman (Bea) Statz of Baraboo, WI, Herbert (Eileen) Statz of Waunakee, WI, Bernard (Joyce) Statz of Monroe, WI, Lloyd (Terry) Statz of Tooele, UT, and Dennis (Bonnie) Statz of Sturgeon Bay, WI, sisters-in-law Clara (Larry) Fairfax of Milwaukee, WI, Esther (Gerry) Flakas of Delafield, WI, Terese (Michael) Vezeridis of Greenwich, RI, Rose Statz of Elk River, MN, Rosemary Statz of Loganville, WI, and Sue Statz of Sauk City, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Felix, and brothers-in-law Victor and Frank Statz.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 338 S. Harrison St., Belleville, WI with the Rev. Michael Moon officiating with burial in the St. James Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Belleville.
