SHANNON, Ill. - Ray "Bud" Wheaton Smout, 79 yrs. old, of Shannon passed away on Jan. 2, 2016. He was born on Sept. 27, 1936 in Richland Center, WI; the son of Marvin & Ruth (Wheaton) Smout. He attended School in Albany, WI. Ray married Sharon Coon on July 8, 1966 in Rockford, IL. He was employed at Modern Plating in Freeport, IL for 35 yrs.

He is survived by his wife: Sharon Smout of Shannon; daughters: Lisa Smout of Casper, WY; Sandra & Harold Schryver (brother & sister-in-law) of Shannon, John Schryver of Shannon, Jim Schryver of Shannon, Jessica Stinnett of Shannon, Cassie Schryver of Lexington, KY; Jeff (Pam) Schryver of Mauston, WI; Johnny (Iva) Coon of Conroe, TX; Harold (Iness) Coon of Genoa, IL; Steven (Monica) Coon of Freeport.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 10 am on Jan. 11, 2016 at Bethel United Methodist in Shannon, IL with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Interment will be at the Brethren Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-6 pm on Sun. Jan. 10, 2016 at the Schwarz Park Blvd. Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd. Freeport. A memorial has been established in his memory for the Shannon Fire & Ambulance Dept.
