MONROE - Power on Monroe's west side was interrupted for a few minutes at about 1 p.m. Friday after workers hit a fiber optic line and pulled a power pole slightly out of position while working at the Wal-Mart Supercenter construction site.

Steve Schultz from Alliant Energy said the power was off for only a brief period of time. He said workers from Alliant were sent to the scene to make sure the pole was secured.
