MONROE - Monroe police are searching for a dog after a local man, who was jogging on the Badger State Recreation Trail, was bitten.
Reports indicate that the incident took place on the trail in the area east of Twining Park, near the 400 block of 14th Avenue, at 6 p.m. Sunday.
The dog, who was reported to be on a leash, was described as a medium sized dog, with longer tan and white fur. The person walking the dog was described as a white male, about 50 to 70 years old.
The bite caused minor injuries, but incidents of this manner may be serious as in some cases when dog is unknown, said Monroe Chief of Police Fred Kelley. The victim may have to undergo a series of painful shots.
Several attempts have been taken by police to locate the dog or the owner by the area routinely, but without success.
Police officials said that the dog and owner are likely local residents.
Police are asking for the public assistance in locating the dog. Those with information about the dog or the owner can call the Monroe Police Department at (608) 329-2400.
