Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD - For the week of Sunday, Sept. 20 to Saturday, Sept. 26, there were 149 calls for service, 44 citizen assists, 21 security checks, seven registrations, seven assists of other agencies, seven 911 calls, five traffic stops, five EMS calls and two fire calls.

On Sunday:

• Harassment was reported at 7:02 p.m. in the 1300 block of East 2nd Avenue. An Orfordville woman, 24, was cited several days later for disorderly conduct in reference to the incident.

On Monday:

• Railroad crossing arms were reported down at 9:14 a.m. in the area of the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. Police responded to provide traffic control and remained on scene until the railroad company was able to lift the arms.

• A hit-and-run crash involving a utility box at the Brodhead High School was reported at 10:02 a.m. Police are seeking to speak with the driver about the incident.

• A gas drive-off was reported at 4:18 p.m. at Stop-N-Go, 2413 1st Center Ave. Police are seeking an individual to question about the incident.

• Trespassing was reported at 8:27 p.m. in the 700 block of 11th Street. Two juveniles were climbing a building. Police warned them for trespassing.

• A 19-year-old Brodhead man was arrested at 9:03 p.m. at the police department on a warrant issued by the Department of Corrections. He was jailed.

On Tuesday:

• Disorderly conduct was reported at 10:59 a.m. at the Brodhead Elementary School. A student had struck a teacher. The matter is being referred to Juvenile Intake.

• Police responded at 4:32 p.m. to check welfare in the 1300 block of East 2nd Avenue. Police made contact with the subject without incident, and the case was closed.

On Wednesday:

• A 30-year-old Janesville woman was cited for speeding at 10:27 a.m. in the 500 block of 23rd Street.

• Vandalism involving damage to insulation and pipes was reported at 3:31 p.m. at a residence in the 1000 block of 21st Street.

On Thursday:

• Police responded at 12:26 p.m. to the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue for a noise complaint. Police made contact at a business in the area and a verbal warning was issued.

On Friday:

• Fraud was reported at 1:29 p.m. in the 2000 block of 1st Center Avenue.

• Retail theft was reported at 3:46 p.m. in the 2400 block of 1st Center Avenue.

On Saturday:

• A gas drive-off was reported at 11:26 a.m. at Trackside Mobil, 1109 1st Center Ave. Police made contact with the driver, and they returned to pay for the gas, advising that it was just an oversight.

• Police responded at 4:27 p.m. to the 800 block of East 3rd Avenue for a report of a male subject walking down the road and being disorderly. Police located him and escorted him to his residence, where he was released to a responsible party. The case was closed.

• A 36-year-old Brodhead woman was cited for speeding at 8:59 p.m. in the 1700 block of 1st Center Avenue.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Tuesday:

• Livestock on the roadway was reported at 6:25 a.m. on County F, Town of Willow Springs.

• Debris on the roadway was reported at 7:08 a.m. on North Road, Town of Wiota.

• Uriel Santiago, 23, Lone Rock, was cited for driving with a suspended license after a deputy responded to a report at 4:06 p.m. of a vehicle in a ditch on Wisconsin 23, Town of Willow Springs. Santiago was turning southbound onto Wis. 23 from County G when he misjudged oncoming traffic, drove into the ditch, struck a culvert and caused damage. His vehicle was towed from the scene.

• Stacy A. Schuchart, 42, Shullsburg, was picked up on a warrant out of Jo Daviess County at 5:23 p.m. and transported to the Lafayette County Jail, where he was awaiting transport to Illinois.

• Livestock on the roadway was reported at 5:42 p.m. on Wis. 23, Town of Willow Springs.

• A deputy responded at 5:45 p.m. to State Line Road, Town of Wayne, for a welfare check.
