Monroe Police

MONROE - On Thursday Jan. 16:

• Police conducted a traffic stop at 4:35 a.m. in the 1000 block of 8th Street on a vehicle operated by a person known to the officer as having a suspended driving status. Christopher L. Sibley, 27, Monroe, was cited for operating after suspension, fifth offense. During the stop a K-9 search revealed suspected drug paraphernalia. Sibley was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. Sibley was released on both citations pending court.

• Police were contacted at 10:38 a.m. about an alleged incident that occurred in the late afternoon of Wednesday, Jan. 15 in which a 13-year-old male was allegedly confronted and followed by a high school aged male holding a knife. The 13-year-old boy was uninjured and was followed for about two blocks near 15th Avenue and 11th Street. Police are seeking information about this incident. The alleged suspect was described as a 14 to 18 years old, white male, medium length, two-toned black and gray hair. He was allegedly wearing a white T-shirt and camouflage pants. Anyone who might have seen a person matching this description is encouraged to contact the Monroe Police Department.

• A vehicle key was found in the municipal parking ramp, on the 1500 block of 11th Street and was turned into the police department at 10:50 a.m.

• Police received a report at 3:16 p.m. that an allegedly intoxicated male was walking in the street near 11th Avenue and 23rd Street. Police contacted Ralph M. Stammen, 60, Monroe, and found that he was currently on bail with an alcohol prohibition as a bail condition. Stammen was arrested and confined in the Green County Jail pending court.

• Police arrested Sharon M. Splinter, 46, Dubuque, after she came to the police building upset and incoherent at 6:47 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17 Splinter was charged with possessing prescription medication not prescribed to her. She was confined in the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.

On Saturday, Jan. 18:

• Police were dispatched to the school parking lot at 12:22 a.m. in the 1600 block of 26th Street for a vehicle noise complaint. Matthew C. Monahan, 17, Monroe, and Cody A. Wolf, 17, Monroe, and a 16-year-old female were all cited for unnecessary vehicle acceleration and noise disturbance. All were released pending a court appearance.

• Police conducted a traffic stop at 11:26 p.m. in the 800 block of 21st Street on a vehicle with an equipment violation. During the stop, officers detected passengers were involved in underage drinking. Deandre T. Farille, 19, Freeport, and Trey D.R. Cowan, 20, Freeport, were both cited for underage consumption of alcohol and released pending court. Samantha L. Dzialowy, 26, Freeport, was charged with obstructing a police officer after trying to give a false name. Dzialowy was also arrested on felony warrants issued from the Freeport Police Department. Dzialowy was confined in the Green County Jail pending an appearance on the local charge and extradition proceedings for the out-of-state charge.

On Sunday, Jan. 19:

• Police observed a vehicle that had left the roadway and gone onto the terrace near 9th Street and 22nd Avenue at 1:16 a.m. The driver of the vehicle, Gilberto Mazanett, 43, Monroe, was arrested for second-offense OWI. Mazanett was released pending court.

• Police arrested Dennis E. Carpenter Jr., 60, Monroe, in the 100 block of North 20th Avenue at 6:53 p.m. on an outstanding body only warrant from the Green County Sheriff's Department for failure to pay child support. Carpenter was also cited for operating a vehicle while suspended, fourth offense. He was confined in the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.



New Glarus Police

NEW GLARUS - Police received a report at 4:30 p.m., Sunday Jan. 12 of unwanted text messages from a village resident. The suspect was identified and an investigation is ongoing.

• Police investigated a report of a juvenile runaway at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 15 in the Village of New Glarus. After some time, the juvenile was located and subsequently cited for underage consumption/possession of alcohol.

• Police responded at 2:07 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17 to New Glarus Schools for a report of a possibly suicidal student. The student was interviewed and Green County Human Services assessed the situation. Green County Human Services advised no further action.

• Police assisted a citizen at 8:43 a.m. in the 1400 block of Wis. 69 by unlocking their vehicle on Saturday, Jan. 18.



Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD - Dustin R. Foster, 19, was cited for criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct on Sunday, Jan. 12 stemming from an incident on Saturday, Jan. 11. A court date was issued.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Friday, Jan. 17:

• A deputy attempted to locate a 16-year-old male at 8:50 a.m. in Gratiot who was reported truant from Black Hawk Schools.

• Julie K. Rupp, 26, Potsoi, was cited for speeding and no proof of insurance at 2:58 p.m. on U.S. 151 in Belmont Township.

• A deputy investigated a suspicious vehicle parked in the roadway at 2:59 p.m. on Blackhawk Road in Monticello Township.

• Scott K. Vassar, 49, Rhinelander, was cited for expired registration on U.S. 151 at 3:32 p.m. in Belmont Township.

• A deputy responded at 4:50 p.m. to a traffic complaint of a vehicle traveling on Wis. 11 in Benton Township without working taillights.

• A deputy responded to a complaint at 7:00 p.m. of an unwanted subject at a residence on County J in Benton. The deputy found the residence unoccupied.

On Saturday Jan. 18:

• A deputy investigated a complaint at 1:13 a.m. of an abandoned vehicle in the ditch on Bethel Grove Road in Kendall Township. Following unsuccessful attempts to locate an owner, the vehicle was towed.

• Scot R. Tollakson, 41, South Wayne, was arrested at 2:46 a.m. for third-offense OWI on County M in Wiota Township. Tollakson was later released to a responsible party pending court.

• A deputy responded at 3:07 a.m. to Wis. 126 in Elk Grove Township after a report was received of several individuals walking on the roadway. No subjects were located.

• A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper assisted with checking County XX in Belmont Township after a report was received at 7:48 a.m. of a truck losing its load of bricks. No debris was located on the roadway.

• A deputy responded to a residence at 2:30 p.m. on Mullen Road in Shullsburg Township for a complaint of an unruly 16-year-old female.

• Deputies assisted Argyle Police at 9:57 p.m. with taking Angela D. Kever, 38, Muscoda, into custody at a residence on Broad Street in Argyle. Kever had several warrants issued by Grant County and was transported to Platteville, where she was turned over to the Grant County Sheriff's Department.

On Sunday, Jan. 19:

• A deputy responded at 1:33 a.m. to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in Evergreen Village on County XX in Belmont Township. The vehicle was found unoccupied and abandoned near a residence. Attempts to locate the owner or driver were unsuccessful and the vehicle was towed.

• A deputy responded to a residence at 5:48 p.m. on County G in Belmont Township to take a theft report.
