Green County Sheriff

MONROE - On Saturday:

• Victoria A. Grumbles, 32, Brodhead, was cited for failure to dim high beams for oncoming traffic at 6:05 p.m. in the N9300 block of Wisconsin 104, Town of Brooklyn. Grumbles was also cited for no valid driver's license and released pending a court date.

 

Monroe Police

MONROE - Brandy A. Busjahn, 35, Monroe, was arrested for disorderly conduct at 12:43 a.m. Jan. 4 in the 2200 block of 1st Street. Busjahn was released pending court after posting a cash bail.

• David S. Eldred, 53, Monroe, was arrested on an apprehension request from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for a probation violation at 3:07 p.m. Jan. 5 in the 1300 block of 17th Street. He was confined to the Green County Jail pending further proceedings.



New Glarus Police

NEW GLARUS - Police assisted the Green County Sheriff with a death investigation at 2:22 p.m. Jan. 1 on County W in Exeter Township.

On Jan. 2:

• Suspicious activity was reported at 8:57 a.m. in the 300 block of 5th Street.

• Truancy was reported at 9:25 a.m. from a parent who could not get their child to go to school. The child ended up being transported to the school as the parent was at work.

• Police removed a hazard from the road at 3:29 p.m. in the 1400 block of 2nd Street.

• A traffic complaint was reported at 3:40 p.m. on Wis. 69. The vehicle was located and no violations were observed. No further action was taken. 

• Theft was reported at 4:03 p.m. on 5th Avenue. A purple suitcase and its contents along with a Ziplock bag of change was stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact the New Glarus Police Department 527-2145.   

• Police issued a 24-hour parking violation at 5:13 p.m. in the 500 block of 5th Avenue.

• Police responded to a welfare check at 9:09 p.m. Jan. 3 on Wis. 69 and County W for a person who might have fallen through the ice on the pond. No one was found to have fallen through the ice.

On Jan. 4:

• A parking violation was reported at 10:05 a.m. on 5th Avenue. A vehicle reportedly had not moved for a long time. Contact was made with the owner who advised they would move the vehicle.

• Police issued warnings to some citizens for not shoveling their sidewalks at 10:31 a.m. The Police Department wants to remind everyone that failure to remove the snow/ice from sidewalks could result in a citation for $162.70 and other added cost if the village has to do it.

• Police cited a vehicle at 1:49 p.m. to the 600 block of 2nd Street for a 24-hour parking violation.

• A wallet was turned in at 2:22 p.m. Police returned it to its owner.

• A civil issue was reported at 2:45 p.m. in the 500 block of 14th Avenue. Police stood by and the subject was advised to contact his lawyer. 

• A stolen vehicle was reported at 3:01 p.m. in the 600 block of Railroad Street. At the same time dispatch received numerous calls of a vehicle travelling in the wrong lane of travel southbound on STH 69. An investigation revealed that the cases were both involving a subject with dementia taking the vehicle to get to Monroe. The vehicle was stopped on STH 69 near Washington Road. The subject was transported to an area Hospital.   

On Jan. 5:

• Police issued two parking citations for violation of the winter alternate side parking regulations. 

• Lucas J. Klees, 25, Madison, was cited for speeding at 11:53 p.m. Jan. 6 in the 1100 block of Wis. 69.

On Jan. 7:

• Police issued four parking citations for alternate side parking violations.

• A possible theft was reported at 9:08 a.m. in the 90 block of Wis. 69. The matter was settled prior to officers clearing from the scene.

• Joshua J.P. Byrne, 19, New Glarus, was arrested and jailed on domestic abuse-related charges after police and Green County deputies responded to a report of domestic abuse at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 800 block of 10th Avenue. Investigation revealed that Byrne had smashed out a window at the residence and armed himself with a knife. He fled the scene prior to police arrival but was apprehended a short time later in a field to the west of the village. He was charged Monday in Green County Circuit Court with a Class F felony charge of burglary and misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Sunday:

• Janann M. Gertsch, 45, Gratiot, was cited for no proof of insurance at 7:21 p.m. on Wis. 23, Gratiot Township.

• Joshua S. Singer, 27, Chippewa Falls, was cited for no proof of insurance at 7:41 p.m. on County E, Darlington Township.

• A keep the peace issue was reported at 9:18 p.m. on East Hill Street in Blanchardville.

On Monday:

• A deputy responded at 8:44 a.m. to Railroad Avenue in Benton for a welfare check.

• A deputy responded at 11:04 a.m. to Horner Lane in Argyle Township for a welfare check.

• A deputy assisted Lafayette County Human Services at 2:43 p.m. on South Street in Argyle.
