Monroe Police

MONROE - Gary B. Child, 46, Monroe, was arrested on a probation hold issued by the Department of Corrections after police were called at 2:02 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, to the Monroe Clinic ER for allegations against Child of domestic abuse. Charges are still pending in that case. Police located Child at 4:17 p.m. the same afternoon at the Monroe Public Library and arrested him on the probation hold. He was jailed.

• Travis J. Runke, 40, Monroe, was arrested on charges of battery and disorderly conduct after a 57-year-old woman in the 500 block of West 21st Street called police at 7:26 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, to report Runke struck her. Runke was jailed. In court Wednesday, his signature bond was set at $1,000 with the conditions that he not drink or have violent or abusive contact with the woman.

• The landlord of an apartment building in the 800 block of 22nd Avenue reported at 7:50 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, that a non-tenant was once again staying in his mother's apartment there, despite numerous warnings from the landlord that he not be there. Police issued a final warning and told the non-tenant he'll be cited for trespassing the next time he's found in the apartment building.

• A man came into the police station at 8:40 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, to report a dispute over child visitation. He was advised it is a civil matter and to talk to his attorney.

• Unauthorized transactions on a debit card were reported at 1:39 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, in the 300 block of 3rd Avenue. Police are following leads.

• A woman in the 500 block of 26th Avenue called at 3:25 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, to complain of unwanted texts from an ex-boyfriend concerning child visitation. She was advised it is a civil matter and to talk to her attorney.

• A dog owner was warned to bring the animal into the house after police responded to a neighbor's complaint of barking at 11:16 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7.

• Police are investigating a complaint, taken at 8:46 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, that someone is putting foreign garbage into a restaurant's Dumpster in the 1600 block of 12th Street.

• Monroe Alternative Charter School reported a truant 16-year-old female student at 9:59 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8. Police referred the case to Juvenile Intake.

• A resident in the 500 block of West 21st Street reported at 4:12 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, that while applying for a job he discovered his Social Security number had been used in a different state.

• Police took a report in the 300 block of 2nd Street at 6:08 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, that a man stole money from his wife's purse.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - Ricardo S. Ortiz, 24, no permanent address, was arrested on a probation and parole warrant at the Green County Justice Center at 4:06 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - Cynthia J. Burris, 48, Shullsburg, was arrested on a charge of driving with a revoked license at 9:57 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, on Wis. 126 in the Town of Belmont. She was booked and then released from jail.

• Michael J. Kirschbaum, 26, Belmont, was transported from the Grant County Jail to the Lafayette County Jail on a probation hold.

• Jeffrey M. Helin, 38, Janesville, was cited for speeding at 3:46 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, on Wis. 11 in South Wayne.

• A theft was reported on Galena Street in South Wayne at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8.
