Monroe Police

MONROE - On Friday, Jan. 31:

• Police issued several citations for truancy charges at 10:57 a.m. after an investigation with the Monroe School District. Jacob K. W. Anderson, 17, Monroe, was cited for habitual truancy; Tanner M. Blum 17, Monroe, was cited for habitual truancy; a 16-year-old Monroe female was cited for truancy; a 16-year-old Monroe male was cited for truancy; a 16-year-old was cited for truancy; a 15-year old Monroe female was cited for truancy; and a 15-year-old Monroe female was cited for truancy. All were released with parental notification pending court.

• James T. Clark, 51, Monroe, was cited for trespassing at 4:58 p.m. at Walmart. Police were initially called to Walmart for a report of Clark needing assistance in retrieving a credit card from a family member. Investigation revealed that the family member was not at Walmart and that Clark was a subject of a no-trespassing order.

• Dylan M. Kundert, 17, Monroe, was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at 7:12 p.m. following a traffic stop for a vehicle with an equipment violation at the 200 block of 18th Avenue. A K-9 unit alerted police to the probable presence of drugs in the vehicle, and a search was conducted. After the suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia was located, Kundert was arrested. He was released pending court.

On Sunday, Feb. 2:

• Jason S. Smith, 34, Juda, was arrested at 2:39 a.m. in the 2900 block of 18th Street following a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration. Smith was charged with OWI, operating with a prohibited alcohol content and non-registration of a vehicle. Smith was cited and released pending court.

• Ralph F. Stammen, 60, Monroe, was arrested at 4:24 a.m. on a charge of bail jumping for violations on conditions of bond from a previous case prohibiting alcohol consumption after police received a report of an intoxicated person out of control at a residence in the 700 block of 12th Avenue. Stammen was confined in the Green County Jail pending court.

• Police were called at 4:48 p.m. to a residence in the 2600 block of 8th Avenue for a report of theft of prescription medication. The incident remains under investigation.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - Chelsea R. Knell, 24, Monroe, was arrested for battery after deputies responded to Sir Buks Tavern on County KK, Town of Monroe, for an assault complaint. Knell allegedly fled the scene and deputies completed a follow-up investigation into the disturbance when they arrested Knell at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31. Knell was booked into the Green County Jail and released pending court; further charges will be referred to the Green County District Attorney for a charging decision.

• Lucas C. Patterson, 29, Monroe, was arrested at 1:46 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31 for felony possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor bail jumping following a traffic stop for an equipment violation of a vehicle on the 2800 block of 13th Street, Monroe. The Monroe Police Department and K-9 assisted with the traffic stop. Patterson was jailed pending court.

• Jason M. Palmer, 37, New Glarus, was arrested for OWI, first offense, at 3:16 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2., following a disturbance call in the Village of New Glarus. Palmer was released pending court.



New Glarus Police

NEW GLARUS - Police were dispatched to the 500 block of 1st Street at 1:42 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27 for a report of an oven fire. The fire was extinguished before police arrived. The residence was checked and everything was found to be OK.

On Tuesday Jan. 28:

• Police took a report of vandalism to a vehicle at 9:30 a.m. that occurred in the 400 block of Valley Lane. The vehicle was egged several times.

• Police received a report at 1:13 p.m. that the traffic lights on Wis. 69 at Wis. 39 were malfunctioning. The stop lights were checked and found to be operating correctly.

• Police were dispatched at 3:08 p.m. to the 100 block of 5th Avenue for a possible disturbance. Everything was found to be OK.

• Garritt F. Gallmeier, 24, Brooklyn, was cited at 5:20 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance after police stopped Gallmeier for an improper stop on Wis. 69 at 6th Avenue.

• Scott R. Herbst, 33, Gratiot, was cited at 8:32 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29 for mandatory seatbelt and speeding violations, on the 1100 block of Wis. 69.

On Thursday Jan. 30:

• Police investigated a disorderly conduct complaint at the New Glarus Schools at 2:30 p.m. The student was talked to with a parent and school staff present.

• Police responded to a complaint at 4:34 p.m. on the 500 block of 5th Avenue regarding a snow removal issue between neighbors.

• Police received a complaint at 8:38 p.m. of harassment by means of cellphone messages and texting. The incident is under investigation.

• Police received a complaint at 10:46 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, in regards to a suspicious call to a business in an attempt to gather personal information. No information was given and the incident was documented.

• Police responded at 12:12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, to the 300 block of Elmer Road for an unknown disturbance in an apartment. The parties were talked to and all stated that there was no disturbance.

On Sunday Feb. 2:

• Police responded to the 600 block of 9th Avenue at 8:44 a.m. for a complaint of fraud. An investigation revealed that the complainant's Yahoo! email account had been hacked.

• Police received a parking complaint at 8:45 a.m. in the 500 block of 2nd Street. The vehicle was legally parked and no other action was taken.

• Police responded to a 911 call at the 1100 block of 1st Street at 12:29 p.m. An investigation revealed that a small child had been playing with the phone and dialed 911. Everything was fine at the residence.



Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD - On Sunday, Jan. 26:

• Marcus J. Phiffer, 18, Brodhead, was arrested at 7:53 a.m. in the 200 block of East 9th Avenue for operating while intoxicated, operating after suspension and on two active warrants issued by Rock County Circuit Court. He was transported to the Green County Jail.

• A 14-year-old female, Brodhead, was cited for underage possession of tobacco stemming from an incident on Jan. 23. A court date was issued.

• A 17-year-old female, Brodhead, was cited at 3:42 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in the 2000 block of West 9th Avenue for failure to stop for a school bus. A court date was issued.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Friday, Jan. 31:

• Deputies transported Jaren M. Kuester, 31, Milwaukee, from Lafayette County Court at 2:50 p.m. following his sentencing, to Mendota Mental Health Institute, Madison.

• Deputies responded to a residence at 3:09 p.m. on Willow Branch Road, Seymour Township, after a 911 hang-up call was received from the location.

• A deputy took a report of suspicious activity at 6:18 p.m. at a residence on Second Road, Willow Springs Township.

• Shawn J. Erickson, 46, Blanchardville, was cited at 6:23 p.m. for passing in a no passing zone and an expired registration on Wis. 24, New Diggings Township.

• Devin C. Lantagne, 19, Sacramento, Calif., was cited for speeding at 7:07 p.m. on Wis. 81, Seymour Township.

• A deputy found an unsecured door at a business on North Mound Avenue, Belmont at 10:59 p.m.

On Saturday, Feb. 1:

• A deputy responded to Gould Hill Road, Blanchard Township, at 2:10 a.m. in an attempt to locate a female that had been dropped off in the area and become lost. Iowa county Sheriff's Department and Green County Sheriff's Department assisted with the case. The female was located and a relative responded to the area to provide her a ride home.

• A report was taken at 4:05 p.m. for an Internet fraud incident which occurred at a residence on Spore Road, Wiota Township. The complainant reported losing money as a result of the scam.

• A deputy investigated a report of hunters trespassing on land at a location on County U, Shullsburg Township at 4:34 p.m.

On Sunday, Feb. 2:

• A deputy responded to an animal neglect complaint at 8:30 a.m. on County E, Darlington Township.

• A deputy responded to an animal neglect complaint at 9:09 a.m. on Trotter Road, Wiota Township.

• A deputy responded to a complaint of an unruly 13-year-old male at a residence on Carr Factory Road, Benton Township.

• Edward S. Williams, 43, Wonder Lake, Ill., was cited for speeding at 5:59 p.m. on Wis. 81, Seymour Township.
