Peggie Lynn Sersch, age 62, of Milton, died Monday, November 23, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. Surrounded by family, Peggie passed away as a result of complications from a sudden illness.

Peggie was born in Monroe on March 24, 1953, the daughter of John Lavern Bergum and Eunice Mae (Martin) Bergum. She grew up in South Wayne, the oldest of six children, and was a 1971 graduate of Blackhawk High School, where she met her future husband. Peggie graduated from Southwest Wisconsin Vocational-Technical School (Fennimore) in 1972 with a degree in stenography.

Upon graduation, Peggie worked for Moore Business Forms in Monroe, and subsequently worked as a secretary for the Platteville Public Schools.

On August 18, 1973, she was united in marriage to Ronald "Ron" Earl Sersch, at West Wiota Lutheran Church in Gratiot. In 1976, Ron and Peggie moved to central Wisconsin, where they had their children and made many good friends in the Neillsville and Loyal areas.

The family moved to Milton, in 1986. In 1988, Peggie began working for the School District of Milton, first as a teachers' aide at Milton West Elementary, and most recently as the district processing and summer school secretary at Milton High School. She was also an active volunteer and member of Hope Lutheran Church (Milton).

Peggie adored her family, friends, colleagues, and community. She relished being a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She always put the needs of others ahead of her own; she could be counted on to provide a listening ear, support, and always plenty of delicious food. Peggie loved expressing her creativity through craft and home projects, decorating, drawing, gardening, cooking, scrapbooking, and writing poems. She could often be found with a camera in her hand, cheering on the activities, athletics, and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Those who knew her will especially miss her laughter, smile, and warmth.

Peggie is survived by her loving husband Ron Sersch of Milton; her daughter Mandi Lynn Sersch of Middleton; her son Dustin Ronald (Jodi) Sersch of Janesville; her grandchildren Cora Lynn Sersch and Grayson James Sersch of Janesville; her mother Eunice Bergum of South Wayne; her brother Larry (Lori) Bergum of Conover; her brother Gary (Mary) Bergum of Middleton; her brother Perry (Becky) Bergum of Madison; her brother Barry Bergum of Evansville; her sister Penny (Scott) Lovelace of Argyle; her sister-in-law Diane (John) Russell of Lake Mills; her brother-in-law Randall Sersch and his partner Sue Chambers of Darlington; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and many close friends.

Peggie was preceded in death by her father, John Lavern Bergum; her mother-in-law Jean Sersch; her father-in-law Frederick Sersch; and her sister-in-law Sharon Rowe.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2015, from 1:00-4:00 pm at Albrecht Funeral Home & Cremation Services (Milton), which is assisting the family. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015, at 11:00 am at Hope Lutheran Church (Milton), with Pastor Garrett Struessel officiating.
