She farmed with her husband in Wiota Township where they raised their family before moving to Darlington in 1968. She worked at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County for more than twenty years and was very proud of becoming a CNA during that time. She was a wonderful caregiver and took care of countless infants. She spent many hours volunteering at the Lafayette Manor.
Pauline is survived by two daughters: Carol (Fred) Ruef of Tennyson, WI and Anne (Fred) Bauman of Monroe, WI; six sons: Wayne (Marne) Wilson of Argyle, WI, Eldon (Kitty) Wilson and Kenneth (Pauline) Wilson, both of Darlington, Gene (Emmy) Wilson, David (Liz) Wilson, Steve (Beth) Wilson, all of Monroe, and a son-in-law: Tom Backer of Rockford, IL; one sister: Charlene Johnston of Mineral Point, WI; 30 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Pauline was a member of Darlington Methodist Church and it's UMW. She raised her children with no running water and still managed to can hundreds of quarts of vegetables each year. She was a wonderful cook and welcomed many last minute guests at her Sunday table. She loved to garden, shop, go for rides, play euchre, read, and take occasional trips to the casino. No matter how ill she was, a baby could always make her smile. She cherished visits from her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered as a generous and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
