Paul F. Wuethrich, age 87 of Monroe, died Friday, August 6, 2010 at Collinwood Care Home in Brodhead. Paul was born February 11, 1923 in Clarno Township, the son of Fred and Bertha (Marty) Wuthrich.
He attended West Clarno and Spring Creek Schools. Paul played on the Phillips and Smith softball team, home talent baseball, and the Junction House slow pitch team. He married Ruth Bleiler on April 17, 1946. He farmed in Clarno Township for many years and also worked at Equity CO-OP Livestock.
He was a member of Staver St. Peter's United Methodist Church, Monroe Moose Lodge #754, and was a director and officer at Green County Mutual Insurance Co. for 36 years. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, collecting toy tractors, puzzles, and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packer fan.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Wuethrich of Monroe; two sons, William Wuethrich of Campbell, CA, Jerry (Libby) Wuethrich of Monroe; four grandchildren, David (Kim) Wuethrich of Monroe, Julie Wuethrich of Madison, Steven (Molly Dussmann) Brunhoefer of DePere, WI, and Jason (Jessica) Brunhoefer of Green Bay; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger (Jean) Wuthrich; and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Hartwig, all of Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Donna Brunhoefer; a grandson, Aaron Wuethrich; and a daughter-in-law, Gloria Wuethrich.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at Staver United Methodist Church, Clarno Township, with Pastor Paul Gregersen officiating. A church luncheon will be held immediately following with burial in Greenwood Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Paul's name for Staver Church or Monroe Clinic Hospice.
