Paul E. Bechtolt, age 76 of Monroe, died Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Paul was born on May 1, 1941, the son of Earl and Frieda (Wenger) Bechtolt. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1960 and married Delores "Lorrie" Huber on May 28, 1961. He later married Wanda (Leck) Meighan on October 10, 2010. He farmed in Jordan Township most of his life and drove semi truck for many companies. He most recently drove for Springbrook Cheese Factory before retiring. Paul was a member of Oakley Union United Methodist Church and Monroe Moose Lodge #754.

Paul is survived by his wife, Wanda Bechtolt of Monroe; three children, Steve P. (Marne) Bechtolt of South Wayne, Ron Bechtolt (Kim Wyss) of Monroe, Kelly (Allen) Richardson of Brodhead; Wanda's children that he considered his own, Jeffrey Meighan of Monroe, Debra (Randy) Thompson of Juda, Laurie (Steven) Haberman of Janesville, Susan (Jeremy) Hendrickson of Monroe, Ed (Angie) Meighan of Onalaska, Brenda (Tory) Schutte of Genoa City, Valerie (Darrin) Blum of Monroe; 26 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and a brother, David Bechtolt of Madison. He is further survived by his first wife, Lorrie; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joyce Dunlavey; a brother, Daniel Bechtolt; and a great grandson, Mathias Koch.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Pastor Kevin Cernek officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Paul's name. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net.
