Norma Jean Paulson, age 74 of Blanchardville died on Friday evening, November 14, 2014 at the New Glarus Home in New Glarus. She was born on May 3, 1940 to Raymond & Helen (Wahl) Haugen. She grew up near Blanchardville, attended the Blanchardville grade school, and graduated from the Blanchardville High School in 1958. She was married on June 21, 1958 to Douglas Eugene Paulson in the York Memorial Lutheran Church. Norma and Doug farmed together until 1978 when they moved to Blanchardville. Norma worked at Trumpy cheese and the Bit of Norway restaurant in Blanchardville and then at the New Glarus Home for many years. She helped with the volunteer grandparent program at the Pecatonica Elementary School in Hollandale for several years. Norma was a member of the York Memorial Lutheran Church and Women of the ELCA group; and really enjoyed the Blanchardville Red Hat group activities and friendships. She loved playing cards with friends and family, and spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities.

Norma is survived by three daughters, Linda Rood of Hazel Green, Shelly (Dennis) Olson of Hollandale, and Stacy Conwell of Blanchardville; six grandchildren, Scott Rood, Amber (Shawn) Russell, Jamie Olson, Jimmy Olson, Dillon Conwell, and Dakota Conwell; three great-granddaughters, Kara, Kaylee and Katriena Russell; and a sister-in-law Barbara Paulson of Muscoda. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Scott who died in 1981, her husband Doug who died on December 2, 2001, and her sister-in-law, Rita Orshall.

A visitation for Norma Paulson will be held on Monday evening, November 17, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the York Memorial Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville at the intersection of highways 78 and 39. A funeral service will be held at the church on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Bob Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in the York Memorial Cemetery.
