MADISON - A Monroe native and her husband were killed this week in a motorcycle crash in Texas, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
Alfonso and Janet Studesville, described by the Urban League of Greater Madison as "champions for education and employment for children and adults," lost their lives Tuesday, June 4. A tractor trailer crossed into their lane, colliding head-on with their motorcycle on a rural Texas highway, reported the Amarillo Globe-News.
Janet Studesville, 68, is the daughter of George and the late Kay Barry, formerly of Monroe.
She and Alfonso, 67, had been married nearly four decades. They owned a nail salon business in Madison. Their only child, Eric, is a running back coach for the Denver Broncos. He has been a coach in the NFL for 17 years.
Janet Studesville was vice-president of Women in Focus, a women's group that works with minority students to increase literacy and scholarships to Madison-area students.
