Mayme B. Dalton, age 85 of Monroe, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Azura Memory Care (Harbor House), Monroe. Mayme was born August 4, 1927 in Argyle, Wisconsin the daughter of Carl S. and Nettie (Phillips) Johnson. She attended Puddledock Rural School near Argyle and married Charles "Tom" Dalton on October 10, 1947 in Dubuque, Iowa. Mayme worked at Advance Transformer for 25 years before retiring. Following her retirement she worked part time at the Swiss Colony and Monroe T.V. and Appliance. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe. She enjoyed garage sales, and collecting salt and pepper shakers, music boxes, and clocks. She loved taking walks with her dog, Jake, going out to eat, having company, and was always working in her yard.

She is survived by four children, Mary Ellen (Steve) Walden of Monroe, Barbara (Richard) Sproul of Cass Lake, MN, Carl (Debra) Dalton of Modesto, CA, and Joan (Scott) Mount of Duvall, WA; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and her brother, Ernest (Betty) Johnson of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, on Feb. 3, 2008; a granddaughter; a great grandson and great granddaughter; four sisters, Dorothy Melland, Alice Schuetz, Lulu Mangelson, and Nellie Barry; and two brothers, John and Harvey Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, Monroe, with Pastor Matthew Spoonhour officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge. Visitation will be at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, on Tuesday, August 21, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Mayme's name.
