Mary Hackett, 102, of Monroe, WI, and formerly of Beloit, WI, died Monday, November 19, 2012 in her home in Monroe, WI.

She was born October 3, 1910 in Leitermacaward, Ireland the daughter of Sean and Sophia (Boyle) Malley. Mary was the oldest of seven children and moved to America when she was just 17, going to live with an aunt and uncle who had immigrated to New York. Mary met a Tyrone man, Patrick Hackett and they were married on April 16, 1933 in New York and they settled into life in America. They went on to have three children, Mary, Bill and Pat.

Mary, better known as the "Queen of Green" at many of the Beloit and Monroe Irish parades, celebrated her heritage not only on St. Patrick's Day but everyday.

Mary worked well into her 80's and was well known for her employments at Beloit College where she not only cleaned but mentored for many. She was also employed by Zinkie's, Terry's Grocery Store, and finally for John and Gail Quigley at The Works. Mary enjoyed knitting for everyone, playing cards and was an avid bingo player. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Marian Guild, Beloit and St. Claire of Assisi Catholic Church, Monroe, WI.

Survivors include her children, Mary (Bob) Peiffer of Tomahawk, WI, Bill (Barb) Hackett of Chatham, NJ, and Pat (Lyle) Hamilton of Monroe, WI; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; brother, Edward (Dolly) Malley of Ireland; several nieces and nephews in Ireland and Canada.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband, two sisters and four brothers.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 in St. Jude Catholic Church, 747 Hackett Street, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Bill Connell and Fr. John Hedrick concelebrating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI with a Scripture Service to be held at 4:00 p.m.

Memorials may be given in her name to Monroe or Beloit Hospice.
