Mary Alice Harty, age 97, of Shullsburg, WI, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home in Cuba City, WI. She was born September, 10, 1914 in Shullsburg the daughter of Gus and Margaret (Carey) Harty. Mary Alice graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1932. She lived in Shullsburg all of her life where she worked at the Ennis Hospital in Shullsburg and with Dr. Hoesley for 10 years before working at Dubuque for 30 years as a dental assistant.
Mary Alice is survived by many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a dear friend: Marie Drexler.
Mary Alice was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, its Altar and Rosary Sodality and Legion of Mary. She enjoyed talking on the phone with her friends. Mary Alice also enjoyed ceramics. She took great pride in her car. A car that was given to her by her father. Mary Alice also loved to go out to eat with her family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 3, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 344 North Judgement Street in Shullsburg with Rev. John Bosco Pudhota officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery in rural Shullsburg. A visitation will be held Friday, August 3, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at O'Flahrity-Erickson Funeral Home, 235 North Judgement Street in Shullsburg where a rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
