Mary A. Coplien, age 81 of Monroe, died Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on April 23, 1933 in Janesville, the daughter of Wrennie and Anna (Vollman) Riese. She graduated from Juda High School in 1952. Mary married Roger F. Coplien on July 26, 1952 in Juda. Mary worked at Pleasant View Nursing Home as a Nurses aid for 28 years, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed embroidery and reading. She volunteered at the Monroe Clinic and Hospital for many years, she also drove for meals-on-wheels.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue (Greg) Arnold of Oshkosh; son, Curtis (Christine) Coplien of Freeport; a brother, Alvin Riese of Monroe, 3 grandchildren: Robin (Jason) Porst of Oshkosh, Jeffrey Arnold of Appleton and Madison Coplien of Freeport; and one great grandchild, Lindsay Porst; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Roger Coplien Jr.; 2 sisters, Alice Wolfe and Helen Rufer; 6 brothers: Chester, Roy, Forrest, Elmer, Roger and Robert.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Zion United Methodist Church, Juda, with Reverend Vicki Brantmeyer officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon cemetery, Juda. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 1:00 pm until the time of service, at the Church. Shriner Hager Gohlke funeral home is assisting the family.
