SOUTH WAYNE - Marvel M. Akins, age 83 of South Wayne, WI, passed away on November 11, 2009 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, WI.
She was born on March 18, 1926 in West Allis, WI, to Peter and Mabel (Gill) Verburgt.
Marvel married Marvin O. Akins Sr. at St. Mary's Church in Portage, WI, on June 29, 1963. Marvin passed away on July 14, 2009. She was a R.N. and worked at Monroe Manor until retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Warren.
She is survived by two sons, Marvin Jr. (Sue Cash) Akins of Monroe, WI and Martin (Jerri) Akins of South Wayne, WI; four granddaughters, Heather, Amanda, Michaela and Meshell, all of South Wayne, WI; and one grandson, Martin Jr. of South Wayne, WI; two brothers, Chuck Verburgt and Tom (Ann) Verburgt, and two sisters, Laurel (John) Slepica and Mabel Cadigan, all of Portage, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Peter Verburgt Jr. and Martin in infancy, sister, Crystal Schoenbein.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Warren, IL. Visitation will be held from 12:30 till time of service at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Warren, IL. Officiating will be Father Max Striedl. Burial will be at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Warren, IL.
A memorial has been established in her name.
