Marlea V. Duerst Age 79 of Monticello, died Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the New Glarus Home. Marlea was born July 9, 1931 in Iron Mountain, Michigan, the daughter of Vernon and Ione Duerst. She graduated from New Glarus High School in 1949 and earned a degree in education from U.W. Platteville.

She married Karl E. Duerst on June 5, 1960 in New Glarus. She was an active and dedicated member of Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello where she served on the Women's Guild (past president) and the Ruth Circle. Marlea was also a member of the Green County Retired Teachers and Friends of the Monticello Library. She is survived by her husband, Karl, of Monticello; two daughters, Barb (Dave Gietzel) Duerst of Monticello, and Ann Jacobson of Monroe; two granddaughters, Clare and Emilie Gietzel ; and a brother, David Duerst of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Dwight, Ronald, and Terry Duerst.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 18, at 11:00 a.m.

at Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, with Pastor Petra Streiff officiating. Memorials may be give in Marlea's name to Monticello Public Library or Zwingli Church.
