ARGYLE/BLANCHARDVILLE - Marian Ione Bredeson, age 85 of Orchard Manor near Lancaster, formerly of the Argyle/Blanchardville area, died on Tuesday evening, September 4, 2012 at Orchard Manor. She was born on September 16, 1926 in Mount Horeb to Frank and Selma (Julson) Dearth. She grew up on the Dearth homestead farm in the Yellowstone area. She attended the Farmer rural school, and graduated from the Blanchardville High School. She then went to the Green County Normal School in Monroe to earn her teaching certificate, and then started her life-long teaching career. She taught in Durand, Illinois, taught in several area country schools, and finished her teaching career in 1989, retiring from the school in Fayette, part of the Darlington School District. She was married on May 29, 1949 in the Yellowstone Lutheran Church to Victor Bredeson. They lived on their farm in the Yellowstone area near Blanchardville and Argyle until 1980 when they moved to Argyle. After retiring Marian volunteered in the after school tutoring program in Argyle. Marian was a life-long active member of the Yellowstone Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She was an avid 4-H leader where she and Victor helped found the Yellowstone 4-H Club. She was loved and will be missed by her friends in both Blanchardville and Argyle. Marian was also an avid bowler, reader, card player, quilter, traveler, and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marian is survived by her five children, Mark (Victoria) Bredeson of Monroe, Jeanne Skattum of Argyle, Danny (Lori) Bredeson of Fennimore, Ronnie (Brenda) Bredeson of Argyle, and Julie Shoemaker of Hollandale; 13 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Victor who died on February 13, 1993; her daughter-in-law, Ruth Bredeson; and eight siblings, Lester, Helen, Irene, Myron, Glenn, Lila, Vernon, and Ralph "Bud".

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Yellowstone Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville. Rev. Dan Bohlman will officiate. Burial will be in the Yellowstone Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville.
