MONROE - A 40-year-old Monroe man was arrested on his fourth offense of driving while intoxicated after police found him passed out in a grassy area near the Walmart parking lot early Friday, July 20.
Larry D. Van Dusen was still holding the keys to a nearby Ford Explorer when police found him at 2:33 a.m. He later admitted to driving the vehicle, according to Chief Fred Kelley of the Monroe Police Department.
Van Dusen was taken to a hospital for evaluation and then jailed. He is also cited for driving without vehicle insurance and failure to have a vehicle under control.
He pleaded not guilty Friday afternoon to a misdemeanor charge of fourth offense DWI, according to court records. He was released Monday, July 23, on a $1,500 signature bond with the conditions that he not drink or enter establishments that sell intoxicants.
Court records indicate Van Dusen was convicted on his second DWI offense in 2004 and his third in 2005.
