Man, 47, injured after being struck by vehicle

BROOKLYN - One man was injured after he was hit by a vehicle at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday on Amidon Road near Smith Road in Brooklyn township.

Roger Sickinger, 47, was hit by a vehicle driven by Keith R. Schneider, 33, Lodi. Sickinger was taken to the hospital by Brooklyn Emergency Medical Services.

According to a press release issued by the Green County Sheriff's Department, a vehicle driven by James T. Sickinger, 44, Albany, went into the ditch on the south side of Amidon Road just east of Smith Road. James Sickinger contacted Roger Sickinger, who came to the scene with a truck to try to pull James Sickinger's vehicle out of the ditch.

Deputies said it was raining heavily and the area wasn't lighted.

Roger Sickinger walked into the ditch along the south side of the road.

Schneider's vehicle came upon the area and swerved into the ditch to avoid hitting Roger Sickinger's vehicle, which was parked facing the wrong way in the eastbound lane, and hit Roger Sickinger.

Schneider's vehicle received moderate damage and was impounded.

Deputies are investigating the incident.
