Lula M. "Lu" Elmer age 81 of Monroe, died at her home on Thursday, May 3, 2012 with her family by her side following an unselfish and courageous battle with cancer.

Lu was born January 7, 1931 in Willow Springs Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Irving "Pat" and Julia (Kendall) Nevels. She graduated from Darlington High School. Lu and Loren Elmer were married on April 6, 1970.

She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Mazzuchelli Chapter of Green County.

She is survived by her husband, Loren Elmer of Monroe;

a daughter, Patti Townsend of Cuba City; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia (Bob) Prine of Dubuque, Iowa and Pauline (Clinton) Halverson of Darlington; Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Father Michael Klarer, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, on Monday from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. A Rosary recited by the Green County Court Mazzuchelli Chapter of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas will be at 6:30 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Lu's name.
